Antibacterial profiles, among safety and hygiene

Antibacterial technology for more protection

In the design and management of public spaces, such as schools, hospitals, rest homes and shopping malls, there is an element that cannot be ignored: hygienic safety.

Indeed, the spaces frequented by many people need not only targeted and specific cleaning interventions, but also particular solutions to avoid the spread of microorganisms. Using antibacterial profiles, for example, can help improve the standards in public spaces.

The effectiveness of antibacterial coatings

The coatings are mixed with metallic additives, such as silver, known for its antimicrobial properties. Coating surfaces and finishing elements with these solutions allow to reduce the proliferation of microorganisms that can be the cause of infections harmful to human health.

The effectiveness of these coatings is recognized internationally thanks to the passing of the JIS Z 2801:2000 test, conducted in certified biological laboratories, according to the method described in the Japanese Industrial Standard.

During the experiments, the treated surfaces are exposed to the action of the most common bacteria and their presence is checked at regular intervals. Some coatings reduce the concentration of this kind of microorganisms up to 99,9% after just 24 hours.

Antibacterial coatings can be used to cover any object or surface, such as the profiles for floors and coverings or the skirting boards. To keep them clean, it will be sufficient to use standard detergents.

For the protection of the internal and external corners

Profilpas has created a series of antibacterial profiles in aluminium, specifically studied for the spaces where the maximum hygiene is required.

Protrim RVH/ is part of a line specifically designed to edge and protect the external corners of ceramic coverings, avoiding the unsightly cut at 45° thanks to its rounded shape.

What distinguishes RVH/ from the other articles is the antibacterial technology, certified with the internationally recognized test JIS Z 2801:2000, thus assuring an excel hygienic level over time.

This characteristics can also be found in the profiles Proangle ZVH/ and Proangle Q ZQVNH/, also dedicated to the edging and the protection of the external corners.

Concerning the models for internal corners, Proround BLAH/ is perfect for refurbishments in places such as hospitals, food and chemical industries where high-level bacteriostatic performances are required. The merit is, once again, of the antibacterial coating certified by the JIS Z 2801:2000 test.

Finally, there are the technical profiles in aluminium Sanibord BH/20, to be installed between the covering and the tub or the shower tray.

Profilpas news about antibacterial profiles

Always focusing on safety inside the spaces, Profilpas has designed other lines of antibacterial profiles. These include, for example, the aluminium skirting boards Metal Line 90/6H and Metal Line 89/6H, that allow an elegant junction among wall and floor, and the external corner profile Procorner M 210/AH, for the protection of the external corners, to be applied on already-laid surfaces.

All these models are covered with white RAL 9003 antibacterial coating, which makes them suitable both for private and public spaces, such as schools and hospitals.
