Profiles for balconies and terraces: Profilpas models
Rainwater is an element to be reckoned with during the construction of a terrace or a balcony. Indeed, moisture, seepages and stagnation are phenomena which can become real problems over time, not only for the aesthetic appearance but also for the structure.
The traditional L-shaped systems made of stone or porcelain stoneware are particularly expensive and they do not protect balconies and terraces from rainwater adequately. Indeed, since they are not provided with a sufficient protrusion, they do not push rainwater away and, therefore, the outside edge of the balcony comes into contact with it.
It is precisely for these reasons that the metal profiles have been launched on the market. Unlike the traditional systems in stone or ceramic, the metal ones have several advantages including the speed and ease of application which also concerns junctions and corners, composed of simple interlocking accessories. Moreover, these systems allow a correct discharge of the water that is on the sloping tiled surface and guarantee the perfect alignment of tiles in the perimeter of balconies and terraces. We should also mention the excellent quality/price ratio of these profiles that are much less expensive than the traditional ones.
Profilpas offers a wide range of metal profiles for balconies and terraces: available in colour-coated extruded aluminium or in stainless steel and provided with interlocking junction accessories, Profilpas profiles allow the total discharge of rainwater, thus avoiding the contact with the outside edge of balconies and terraces. Moreover, in addition to the role of protection, they guarantee an excellent aesthetic performance thanks to their modern design and to the wide selection of available finishes.
Cerfix® Protec: the line of profiles for balconies and terraces of Profilpas
For the application with waterproofing mortars and for the drainage of the water that penetrates under the tiled surface, Profilpas has designed Protec CPGV: a draining profile for balconies and terraces in colour-coated aluminium, composed of a vertical part that covers the outside edge and allows the discharge of rainwater from the tiled surface, and a cantilevered part with holes to guarantee a further drainage of the water that is under the tiled surface.
In addition to this one, Profilpas offers many other models for the protection and finishing of the outside edges of balconies and terraces.
Protec CPAV in colour-coated aluminium and CPAI in stainless steel are L-shaped edge profiles that can be installed detached from the edge and can be used with any thickness of marble or tiles.
Protec CPBV in colour-coated aluminium and CPBI in stainless steel can be also used with every thickness of marble or tiles and are provided with a cantilevered section to avoid the contact of water with the outside edge of the balcony.
Protec CPEV in colour-coated aluminium and CPEI in stainless steel can be installed detached from the edge and, since they are reversible, they can be used with thicknesses from 10 to 35 mm. The particular section makes them suitable for steps (flush with the edge) or pavements since it hides the connection between riser and tread.
Protec CPCV in colour-coated aluminium and CPCI in stainless steel have been designed with cantilevered section and for thicknesses up to 21 mm. In addition to protecting and finishing the outside borders, this system guarantees the outflow of water from the surfaces, thus avoiding the contact with the outside edge.
Protec CPDV in colour-coated aluminium can be installed detached from the edge and can be used with thicknesses up to 12,5 mm.
Protec CPHA in anodised aluminium, thanks to its shape, guarantees the outflow of rainwater thus avoiding the direct contact with the edge of the balcony or terrace. Moreover, it allows the allignment of tiles and the protection of edges from foot traffic in many fields of use. This profile can be used with thicknesses up to 21 mm.
Lastly, Protec CPLV in colour-coated aluminium is an edge profile for the protection and finishing of the outside edges of raised floors. This profile is composed of a drilled base to be fixed to the spacers through screws and a top part to be fixed with adhesive and available in 3 different heights (60, 80 and 100 mm) according to the floor height.
